This shirt is so special to me in so many ways.
When I turned 16, my Uncle Bob gave me a gift that has stayed with me through so much over the years. It was his first buckle he had ever won for reigning. You actually see me wear this quite often in our photo shoots.
It read “Green as Grass” at the top. Most of you know what this saying means- fresh, new, inexperienced.
When he gave it to me he said “right now, you are as green as grass. But- you are blooming and one day you will become a flower”. I’ve never, EVER forgotten this. And I have taken this to heart my entire life since. I strive to become that flower. Experienced. Wise.
In R&R, I am constantly reminded how “green” I am in this business. I’m always learning, pushing, blooming, growing. One day, we may not be so green anymore. But until then, there’s always room to bloom toward that beautiful flower I hope to someday be.
